We even made it into our seats with time to spare. I have never heard so many crying children in the conference center. Luckily though, none of them were mine. Mine were all perfect angels, except for that one time that Olivia attempted to crawl over the seat in front of her to retrieve a stray crayon.
After the meeting, we went on a downtown adventure. Olivia and me loved all the fountains we found. Everyone else was a bit bored. I had to promise her that we would go back soon, just her and me, so that we can spend as much time at each fountain as we want to, especially the new ones in City Creek.
Then we hopped on trax and headed down to the Grand America Hotel. On the train, we met these two nice tourist ladies from Michigan who had no idea where they were going, but said that they couldn't believe how healthy and well dressed all the Mormons were.
Olivia was highly impressed with Grand America. She wants to live there, in the lobby, because it makes her feel like a princess. And the bathrooms have private little rooms with sinks and real towels!
There is a French bakery at Grand America, and in honor of Alisa, we felt obligated to blow our life savings on pastries. The French macarons are divine.
Olivia picked chocolate gateaux cake. After she tasted it, she was not impressed. So she went back into the bakery and told the lady there that the cake was nasty.
Visiting the bakery inspired us though. Will had a project due in French class where he had to do something French, so we came home and spent the entire afternoon making eclairs.
We did the whole thing. Real custard and everything. It wasn't hard, it just took forever. I had made them before, but I forgot what a long process it was.
The finished product turned out quite nice I think. Most of these went to class with Will this morning, but the leftovers were delicious!
Oh, and P.S. Look what else got started this weekend, oh happy day!
