If I Squint, Maybe I Can See the Eiffel Tower

In the future, will SOMEBODY please remind me to NOT visit the eye doctor in the morning of a day that has an afternoon packed full of appointments?  At 11:30 yesterday morning I got my eyes dilated, and the doctor assured me that it would only last a couple of hours, and as long as I had some sunglasses, I should be fine.

He lied.

I lost all ability to focus on things up close for about 5 hours.  It was like the worst case of far-sightedness ever in the  history of mankind.  If I could have gone home and closed my eyes, it would have been okay, but  the afternoon was taken up with shopping for ruby red slippers (guess what Olivia is being for Halloween?),  podiatrist visiting (Audrey- third ingrown toenail in less than a year-same toe every time), my work, texting me with crisis after crisis (being indispensible is SUCH a pain), dance lessons (Olivia is taking jazz- very adorable), dinner (nachos), concerts (Will, for an orchestra report, and not performing), and more Halloween shopping with the kids.   All of this while being virtually blind to anything less than about 4 inches in height!

I'm so glad I only have to do that once a year.

By today, my eyes were better, but we had to go to the orthodontist to consult on Audrey's teeth, which was almost as annoying as having dilated eyes.  We have been to two different orthodontists, both of whom said pretty much the same thing, which is that she needs braces, and which is not what I want to hear. Braces are expensive, and I have a long list of things to spend my money on that are way more fun than braces.   Her teeth LOOK fine.  It's her bite that is off, so we won't even get the pay off of watching her teeth straighten up. She isn't going to look any different after treatment.  Only my bank account will be able to tell  that she ever had braces.

Will had an orchestra concert tonight that he performed in that I missed because of work.  I hate when that happens.  And tomorrow is Thursday, which is really like my Monday, and the weekend is already filling up with commitments and getting crazy.  I'm feeling the need for a vacation.  If I didn't have to pay for braces, I'd be hearing Paris call my name.
