The first day of April, and OH. The conniving and scheming that has gone on around here today. We have had Saran wrap over the toothpaste and shampoo lids, toothpaste-filled Oreos, missing shoes, missing socks, rubber bands around the kitchen sink sprayer----will this day ever END?? Oh wait. That was just MY contribution to April Fools Day, hee hee hee.
Audrey fooled me with a very believable story of a guy with a gun walking around her school. Duncan came home with a fake hundred dollar bill he said he found. And Olivia has been FULL of stories. First she told me that they learned the letter Y in school today. Then she yelled "April Fools!". Then it was that they didn't have to do any work today at all. April Fools!! And then it was that the seeds they planted last Friday in school had already bloomed. Oh April Fools again!! She seems to be catching on to the idea really well.
In addition to all the hilarity around here, today is the first day that actually feels like spring. It's probably the nicest day, weather wise, that we have had since we moved to Syracuse. Last year was so windy and cold, I can't remember a spring day that was actually nice to be outside. And summer was not much better. So today gives me hope that it isn't always cold and windy out here on the edge of nowhere.
To celebrate the nice weather, I started my spring project of digging out the crowded and overgrown bushes in the front of our house. I got one mini rose bush out, and there are at least 5 more to go, of various sizes and shapes.
Those bushes are such a mess! But I want to remember what it looked like. Hopefully in not too much time, it will look MUCH different. You may even be able to see our front porch without getting assaulted by the scragginess of it all.
While I was digging, the girls were busy drawing on the driveway with the new sidewalk chalk we bought at Target today. Another ode to the beginning of spring. I think we are ALL ready for a change. Even though the kids were already complaining about the bees, and about how hot it was. They are crazy.
I love my little mini daffodils. They are bustin' out all over our yard! Last year at this time this flower bed was full of weeds and grass. It's looking much better this year!
Oh darn, Livvi just got me again. She told me she got to pick out of the treasure box at school....but no, it was just April Fools once more!
And now we have a whole week of spring break ahead of us. No church on Sunday, no school for the kids, and no work for me until next Friday. Our plans include lots of lazy mornings, big breakfasts, and late nights. It'll be like Christmas vacation all over again!
