"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain."
Oh yeah? Well what if there is no rain? What if the stupid storm clouds just hang over your head for days on end, without producing any kind of precipitation at all? The wind just keeps blowing and the dark clouds keep threatening, and it really is not the kind of weather that you want to attempt a hike in, or a trip to the nature center, or temple square, or any of the other 43 outdoor things you thought about doing with your kids over spring break. We would be happy to be dancing in the rain, or the snow, even, but the weather can't seem to drum up that much drama for us. The most exciting thing we have done so far over spring break is to watch Lion King in our pajamas while eating leftover sloppy joes for lunch. Which is great, don't get me wrong. There is something extremely freeing about laying around in your pjs for all hours of the afternoon....until about 2 o'clock, when you start to feel like a lazy, worthless sack of...potatoes, and a change of scenery becomes a vital part of the day's agenda.
So we are straggling into some semblance of presentableness, and then we will be off on the Great Jawbreaker Hunt of 2011. Thanks to a little cartoon called Ed, Edd and Eddie, the boys are huge jawbreaker fans. We used to get them in Logan all the time, but we haven't been able to find any down here yet. But come on, SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE in the great retail expanse that is Davis county must sell them, and we are going on a quest to discover that place. The girls in the family are not jawbreaker fans so much, but I'm guessing that a place that sells jawbreakers will also sell something (preferably chocolate) that Audrey and I can wrap our tastebuds around. And since I hit 4.5 miles on the old treadmill today, I'm feeling like I earned it.
