Good Kids

One of the worst jobs in church has got to be being the person in charge of finding help in the nursery for homemaking night. Only they don't call it homemaking anymore. It's Enrichment Night, which I think is a stupid name for it. And it's not nursery anymore either...it's the Children's Class. Whatever.

Anyway, the saintly woman in our ward whose job this is, called here tonight and spoke with Duncan. Apparently, it was the young mens turn to pitch in for this month's meeting, which was held tonight. Duncan agreed to go over and help, and at the appointed time, with no reminders or prompting from me, he hopped on his bike and rode over to the church. He put in the agreed-upon two hours, playing with the kids, and then rode his bike home. I found out later that he was the ONLY young man who actually showed up. Several other boys were contacted and agreed to come, and then totally flaked. How about that? My kid is not a flake! Where does he get that from anyway? Such a good kid.

The other "good kid of the day" story involves Olivia, who has taken to reminding us each night that it's time to read the Book of Norman. As her mother, I should probably correct her, but it's just too darn entertaining.

Go Duncan! What a good kid. Also I told my brother about the "Book of Norman" and he laughed and said "Oh, yeah - isn't that the Viking edition?" Love ya!
