Olivia's Wedding Day

This is Dan making the rare apprearance on what is truly Lynne's blog.

Earlier today, Olivia announced that this would be her wedding day, and showed me the outfit she would be wearing for the special occasion, a purple skirt with a matching t-shirt. A practical choice, since her wedding would talke place in the "temple" that also subs as a park behind our house.

As I was standing in the front yard talking on my cell phone, she passed me and casually mentioned that she was on her way to her wedding. I immediately hung up and began to follow (see above picture). At first, Livvi said I shouldn't follow, but I convinced her that if she was going to be married, maybe her dad should be there. She reluctantly agreed.

As we walked to the "temple" Livvi told me all about her husband, and how he would have shoes for her (since he wasn't wearing any) and how he had a car and had been in a accident earlier that day, but didn't die.

When we arrived at the "wedding" we discovered two boys swing from the temple rafters wearing pirate clothes, complete with a hook hand. I asked Olivia if it was alright to have pirates at her wedding and she said it was okay, because they were nice pirates.

After a while, Livvi sat down on the ground and began to pile up some sitcks and rocks, because her wedding (besides the outdoor temple setting and the pirates) would also include a campfire.

I don't know what Olivia's real wedding is going to be like, but I hope it's several years away, and that there will be pirates, a campfire, and a playground.

It was a shock to hear my girl announce her wedding, even if it was a pretend one. As I watched her walk away from me down the sidewalk I wondered how soon it would be to see her walk away from me for real, and I got choked up.

That's why I couldn't miss this one, and I enjoyed every second of it.
