No More Pencils

I remembered to take my camera to the last day of school parties yesterday, and would have had lots of great pictures if my camera battery hadn't died after the first picture. The room moms really outdid themselves this year-water balloon fights, pinatas, Hawaiian luaus....sure beats my memories of the last day of school, which mostly involve cleaning desks. I am really grateful that there seems to be a plentiful supply of first-time mom types who volunteer for room mom duty.

Duncan is an official middle school graduate now, which means he is moving on to a new school next year, no matter what. I couldn't bring myself to say goodbye to all of his teachers. I'm pretty sure I would have broken down into the ugly cry. So he wrote them all thank you notes. Here are a few examples:

Dear Mr L.,
You have been the greatest teacher ever. You really scared me that day with the stapler, but I know now that you were just kidding. I will never forget you. Love Duncan

Dear Mr. J,
You were always a good principal. Remember how you thought I told the funniest jokes. I hope I can find another principal like you someday. Love, Duncan

Dear Mrs. P,
Thank you for being my teacher over these two long years. We had lots of fun in literature and watching movies. We had good parties and treats. I will miss you. Love, Duncan

I don't know where we will be next year. I can't imaging finding a better school.
