We have an entomology lab in our kitchen!
Will was feeding crickets to his pet frog tonight. Some of the crickets escaped from their box and fell onto the floor. Before Will could scoop them back into their box, a tiny spider came spinning down from its web, which, unbeknownst to us was hiding in the space between the lower kitchen cupboards and the floor, ran over to the crickets, somehow attached one of the crickets to his web, and lifted it back up to his web under the kitchen cupboard. Then he wrapped him up really tight with his web stuff, and ate him. You had to get down on the floor and bend way over to see it, but it was pretty amazing. It was a tiny spider, and he totally handled that cricket. And really, what are the chances of a spider finding fresh crickets to eat in a kitchen? That's gotta be the luckiest spider in the whole world. Until tomorrow anyway, when I get out my vacuum and suck him and his web out of my life forever.
