A Sampling

For the past several years, we've enjoyed an impromptu Christmas Eve talent show at our house which in years gone by has included all forms of entertainment, mostly performed with only a moment's preparation-  we have had singing, dancing, acting, dramatic reading, cat juggling, you name it.  This year's show was particularly entertaining and talent filled, especially with the addition of Erwann and his guitar, and our discovery of YouTube karaoke.

Sadly, only two of us are brave enough to post any of our many talents on YouTube. I have been sworn to hold sacred and private most of the videos we took that night.  But here are two of the samplings I have permission to share.  Trust me when I say that this is just the tip of the iceberg....

Duncan's talent was awesome because it came out of nowhere.  None of us had any idea he was going to do it.  He just jumped up and announced it was his turn, and he ran with it.

I was hoping hoping hoping Will would agree to play for us this year.  He hasn't been in orchestra this past semester, but he has missed playing the violin, and I was so happy he picked it up and played for us.

Nobody else will let me share their talents.  Maybe once you have had your post-wisdom-tooth-extraction-self posted on YouTube, nothing else really bothers you.

In light of the success of this year's production, we have decided that in years to come, our annual talent show will be held on New Year's Eve instead of Christmas eve.  This will give us an extra week to prepare, and more time for performing, which means the bar has been raised.  So Metcalfs and friends, you have been put on notice- start ramping it up for next year!
