A Concert and Some Doubt

Last night was Will's Christmas concert.

He has moved up to the  big time now, in Advanced Orchestra...

He looks advanced, doesn't he?
He also played in an ensemble during the art show at school.  Next time he plays in an ensemble, he better stand up, so his mother can get a better picture of him.
Afterwards, we were treated to pie at Dennys, complements of Grandma and Grandpa, who came up to go to the concert with us.  Will and Grandma were really looking forward to some hot chocolate.  Unfortunately, we managed to wind up at the one place in town with a broken hot chocolate maker.  They were also out of hot chocolate mix, so there was no way anybody was getting any hot chocolate out of them.  Poor old Will had to settle for pecan pie, which, since he tried it on Thanksgiving, is his new favorite pie.  That kid was in heaven with his slice of pecan pie.   He will never get pecan pie at home though, since I hate it.  I hate it so much I  have taken a solemn vow that pecan pie will never, ever disgrace my  kitchen.  I don't know where he got his taste in pie, but it was definitely not from me.  Darn those Missouri genes anyway.

In another sign of the impending holiday, Olivia asked me last night if I really believed in Santa Claus.  I told her of course I did.  She said that some kids at school said Santa wasn't real.  But she was sure he WAS real, because how could parents get all those presents ready in one night anyway?

She is still a believer.  But I fear our days are numbered.
