Glistening Once Again

In my mind, the original title of this post was Bah. Humbug.

These pictures represent the full extent of our Christmas decorating around here.

The Christmas spirit seems to be a little on the thin side this year, and I'm not sure why.

Maybe its the lack of time and money.   But lacking in those two things is nothing new around here, and it's never made a difference in our levels of Kringley-ness before.

Maybe it's that Alisa will not be home for Christmas this year.  She is Christmasing in BERLIN this year.  As in GERMANY.   In fact, she is already there.  She texted me that she heard ABBA on the radio twice in one day, and she has decided to stay forever. Maybe I'm just jealous about that.  I've always thought the Germans had the market cornered on the Christmas thing, ever since I learned the German lyrics to Silent Night.   I know, I know Silent Night is technically Austrian, but it's written in German.  And I learned it in German class in 10th grade.

Or  maybe we are all just bummed about another year with no snow.  Outdoor Christmas decorations just look stupid without snow.   How can you have a giant blowup snowman sitting on your front lawn surrounded by dead grass? What is merry about that?

Whatever it is, we now have less than a week to pull it all together and make it another flashy  Christmas with a BANG.  Olivia deserves it.  She for one is not at all short on Christmas spirit.  She's on top of making sure the advent calendar gets done every day, she helps me wrap presents, and she alone is the reason we are going to see Santa tomorrow night.

We are also going to bake some cookies, hang some lights, and finish shopping, hopefully all tomorrow. And maybe we'll catch a little merriness along the way.
