Close to Home

It's been a weird week around here.  Just surviving November, and muddling through life I guess....

I am SICK of door-to-door salesmen ringing my doorbell in the middle of the afternoon and trying to sell me everything from meat to pest control.  Today it was curbside recycling they were selling, and when the guy first tried to make it sound mandatory, and then accused me of not caring about the environment, I decided that was the last straw.

UP went my fancy no soliciting sign.  We will see if it helps at all.

Monday night was potato night at the Metcalfs.  We got a big 50 pound bag of potatoes, which we then cooked, peeled, sliced, diced and froze.    It'll be a winter wonderland of hashbrowns, funeral potatoes and mashed with gravy at our house this year.  And all for only $15.00 bucks and a couple hours of hard labor.

This girl was working hard on her homework tonight.  Just want to always remember this cute first grader with her wispy pony tail and her work sheet, sitting by me on the stool tonight sounding out all those s-words.

Here are the gingerbread houses.   Our first and so far only stab at interior Christmas decorating. Olivia is ready to get out the big guns, and put up the tree, but I gotta ease into this thing this year.  One step at a time.

We have moved into the vinyl lettering phase of decorating.  I am still debating if I like it or not.   It's cute, but kind of corny.
And that's about all that's new around here.  Now I have to go find some motivation to go back to work  a 10 hour shift tomorrow, and the next day.  I haven't worked in a long time and it has been very nice.  I almost forgot I had a job.
