Framed on the Fourteenth!

And it starts!

Our basement finishing project has officially commenced, which means there will be lots of terribly uninteresting pictures on here documenting our slow but hopefully steady progress.

We opted to open up the door way into the family room and make it a big entrance.  Unbeknownst to us, Cory (our neighbor and contractor, and perhaps my new best friend) opted to put an archway in too.  I'm not sure about it yet.....I like the way it looks, but we had also toyed around with putting some kind of door on here.  It would have to be a big folding door, as a sliding door isn't going to work, so it might be kinda klugey anyway....

This is our future fireplace.

And just look at all that lovely lumber.  It's amazing.  This would have taken us days and days to get done.  They had it done in less than a day.

And still perseverating on that archway....

Next up, all that really boring and expensive stuff - wiring, plumbing, gas lines....all the things that just don't pay off well in pictures.
