Freedom! My class is over, and we have emerged victorious! Nobody, either in my family or my class, officially lost their mind, although a few of us came close a couple times. I still have to read final papers and grade a test, and then it will be OVER! I'm scheduled to teach again in April, but I'm afraid if I don't resign from my teaching career, my kids will resign from me.
When I left home Thursday night, I was planning to teach that night, stay over with Alisa then go to work on Friday, and head for home Friday night. As I left work Friday though, it was just starting to snow, and by the time I hit the canyon, it was BAD. As bad as I have ever seen it. I couldn't see the tracks in the road, couldn't see 2 feet in front of me, could barely see the lights of the few cars in front of me. So at the last possible turn off, I chickened out and turned around back to Logan and stayed with Alisa another night. She had to work late, so I wasted a perfectly good, although very snowy, Friday night in Logan, trying to figure out something to do. I think I looked at every possible item in Borders, Downeast Outfitters, and Walmart. The only thing I found that I wanted was a sectional at Downeast, but it wouldn't fit in my car, so I passed on it. By the time Alisa got off work and we got to her house, there was well over a foot of snow, and we got both cars stuck in her stupid unpaved driveway. So, at midnight last night, there we were, snow shovels in hand, and me with only one boot on, trying to unstuck two cars. Her two upstairs room mates came out to help. One of them was busier taking pictures than helping, and the other one was wearing a skirt and using a rake to move snow, but they did help us push the car out and the four of us managed to get the cars where they needed to go. And then they did shovel out the rest of the driveway after the cars were moved, so they turned out to be pretty good eggs after all. It was a fine adventure, and I can't believe we managed to get ourselves dug out.
Meanwhile, back in Syracuse, Dan was busy taking the kids to the ward birthday party and fixing our Wii, which Duncan is more than pleased about. I made it home Saturday afternoon, and now we are in a bit of a funk, trying to get our groove back and get something accomplished around here. But my head is still in Logan. I love the nights I get to hang out with Alisa, and we sit on her crappy little couch and eat Oreos and talk about everything. She is so busy these days-- yesterday she spent five hours working at the elementary school she went to as a kid. Now she is doing student teaching there. Crazy how time flies. After that she went to class for a few hours, then to work that night. Then she is back up the next morning and back to work all day today. She is such a great kid, and I am really really proud of everything she is doing. And I won't EVER mention the whole Ford/Buick thing to anybody. Ever. So don't ask.
