And the Beat Goes On

We spent a rowdy New' Years Eve at home this year,

arm-wrestling,

Wii playing,

meaning-of-life pondering,

camera-hamming

imbibing,

Charade-playing,

dancing,

face-pulling,

and dozing.

Every last one of us except Maggie made it to midnight, and some of us (Olivia) made it way past midnight. I believe she was up til three, watching Mamma Mia. What can I say, she had her second wind by that point.

Our predictions for 2011 are as follows:

Will- Mom will make waffles.

Audrey- We will visit somewhere hot.

Duncan- I will get a bigger allowance.

Dan- We will finish the basement family room.

Olivia- We will see some big flags.

Lynne- We will go camping.

Just a hunch, but I think that Audrey and Olivia may be in collusion on something here. They may be hoping to visit a certain hotspot in a warm climate that starts with a D and where you can see princesses. I don't know, it's just a hunch. It may also be possible that if their predictions come true, Dan's will not. If Dan's prediction comes true, the girls may be out of luck. And then Mom's prediction will come true. Whatever comes to us in 2011, we have pretty high hopes for a good year, maybe one with a little less change and a little more settling in. You just never know though.

After our very late night, we decided we would start 2011 off with a bang by squeezing in a last minute, New Year's Day, end-of-Christmas-vacation trip to beautiful downtown Pocatello, Idaho! Although perfectly lovely, Pocatello was not a destination of choice by any means: we just happened to have a free hotel room there, courtesy of the company Dan was working for. So while he went to the basketball game at ISU, the kids and me swam in the hotel pool, sat in the hot tub, ate free breakfast and played video games. All in a balmy 14 degrees below 0.

We got home just in time to hit the sack and try and prepare ourselves for the return to real life, which hit bright and early this morning.

We now have one day down, 4 to go.

Then, it's birthday week at our house! Audrey has a birthday party on Friday, and another one on Saturday. We are also having a party for Duncan's birthday on Saturday, his actual birthday is on Sunday, then Will's is the next Thursday, with HIS party next Saturday.

Oh boy. More shopping. There is no rest for the weary in sight around here.
