The Times, They Are a'Changin'

There are a lot of things in life that Duncan is our standard-bearer in, and getting to church at 9 in the A.M. every Sunday morning is one of them. There are lots of weeks where I just want to skip the whole thing and sleep in, but I don't because I know that Duncan is up and waiting for me.

So it was a little unusual this morning when he got up and got ready to go without waking us up. We woke up about 8:15, and Duncan was sitting there, ready to go. So we decided that Dan would hurry and get ready and get Duncan over there on time and I would get everybody else moving and come over later. Imagine Dan's surprise when he got over to the chapel only to find it dark and quiet, thanks to the time change which we had completely forgotten about. So the two of them came back home, where Duncan promptly and efficiently changed the time on every clock in the house. And, even with two of us being ready ahead of time, and the rest of us having an extra hour, we were still late. There are some things that even having three bathrooms just can't fix.

And I am so sad, because I LOVE this time change where we set the clocks back, and it's the ONLY good thing about winter, and I have been LOOKING FORWARD to this day for a long time, and I feel like I missed it! Now it is practically midnight already, and at no time today did it feel like there was an extra minute, let alone a whole hour. But at least tomorrow morning it will be nearly light when Duncan leaves for school. And now we can just give up on summer already and settle into winter. Time to sit home in the dark, stay warm and be lazy! It scares me a little bit how appealing that sounds...if only we could all hibernate like bears, I would be delirious with joy.

Now Duncan the Perfect is waiting for me to come look at his bedroom, which he spent the evening cleaning. And yes, I know I will get negative feedback from certain family members for calling him perfect, and yes people, I am using just a pinch of sarcasm, so please, just take your complaints and whining outside and release them into the darkness. There will be plenty of it in the next few months.
