Oh dear month of June, you are supposed to be filled with long warm days and sunshine. But so far this year, precious and few are the moments we have spent in the sun. If the sun even looks like it is going to come out, we try to run outside and enjoy it, because we know it won't be long until it is raining again.
So, during the rainy times, Audrey has been baking a bit. She has become our resident brownie maker, which is good fun for her, but kind of hard on those of us who might be trying to eat better and lose a few pounds. I hate when I go to the gym and spend a painful hour running my a$#@&^ off, only to come home and BLOW my just-burned-off 600 calories on a freshly baked brownie. Or four. In about 6 minutes.
I guess Tinker Bell wanted to add a little pixie dust into the brownies via her magic flashlight. If we are at home, that girl is NEVER without a princess dress on. Okay, so maybe Tinker Bell does not exactly qualify as a princess. She's a pixie. Or a fairy. If it's Disney though, it is Livvi-approved.
The one and only day this year that has felt like summer, we were smart enough to get out of the house and spend it with cousins. We took the kids to a children's garden at Thanksgiving Point. We had never been there before. The favorite attraction was of course the water. I think Audrey, Sydney and Stockton are posing as sea lions here.
Here is Olivia being a bronze animal(reference the sign behind her). There is a big Noah's Ark thing in a wading pool with bronze animals and big rocks everywhere, just begging a five year old girl to explore them. But don't climb on anything!
And, in spite of the crappy weather, my rose bush knows it is June and is in full bloom. It is a huge, overgrown moose of a thing, and we very nearly dug the whole thing out last April. Now that I have seen it in action however, it is going to be really hard to convince myself to take it out. We have the little miniature yellow rose bushes in front of our house too that are blooming like crazy. Tomato plants are in and growing. Peaches are getting bigger and fuzzier every day. But we all need some sun!
And that little random collection has been our summer so far. Here is praying for hotter days ahead.
