Living Room

It may have taken us nearly four months, but we are finally all moved out of our Logan house, and all of our possessions now reside in Syracuse. We were forced into this action by the fact that our house suddenly rented, the tenants asked to move in by the 25th of June, and we grudgingly obliged. Now that we are all out, and someone else has moved into MY house, I am having some severely mixed feelings about the whole thing. Other people are living in MY house. I can't go into MY house anymore. And I am living in a house that doesn't feel like mine yet.

So now Mitch is looking for a place to live in Logan. He could move down here with us, but he really wants to stay in Logan for a while, and I don't blame him. We packed up 90% of his stuff and moved it down here, and he went to stay with a friend. Then he found an apartment that he can stay in until the first of July, so now we are moving some of his stuff back up there. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be done hauling crap up and down that canyon.

And Alisa will be looking for a place soon too. She has a room for the summer, but has to move out in August. We thought about renting to her and some of her friends, but she wasn't ever sure she wanted to, and just about the time we thought seriously about it, the house rented. So I guess we will give it a year and see where we all are next June. The tenant is all hyped up about doing some home improvements in exchange for lower rent. If he comes through on that plan, it could be a very good thing for us.

We are also in a bit of a bind as to what to do with the kids on the days I work. Our neighbor in Logan has offered to let them come to their house. Grandma and Grandpa have offered to help out too. But those are some long days, for everybody involved. I wish we could just stay home and spend some time getting acclimated in our new neighborhood. I guess we will all be in survival mode for the summer.

On a brighter note, Olivia is suddenly all excited to have her own room. She and Audrey have been sharing a room and a bed. Audrey has been ready for her own room for a while, but Olivia was a little slow to warm up to the idea. She wasn't too crazy about sleeping by herself. She actually never has slept by herself. As a baby, she slept with me almost every night, and then moved into a double bed with Audrey. But what convinced her was when she realized that if she had her own room, she could leave the night light on all night if she wanted to. So we are rounding up a bed for her and picking out shades of pink paint. She will be moving into the room that is currently the office/playroom. Where all the office/playroom stuff is going to go is still a bit of a mystery. It all involves more moving, cleaning and shuffling furniture though. We are getting pretty good at that.
