Our lives right now are just so weird.
I never would have believed anybody who told me the places my microwave would go today.
But it all started two days ago.
Even though Alisa was in the middle of moving this weekend, and had half her stuff packed in the back of her car, she and Mitch drove to Syracuse to spend Mother's Day with me. It was a great surprise that made my weekend. We had a nice day with all of us together, and a lovely dinner with the grandparents on Sunday evening. Then late Sunday night, when she and Mitch got back home, Mitch realized that he had left his keys in Syracuse. I will spare the gory details of the snarky texting and phone conversations that flew between Logan and Syracuse when we realized the keys had been left behind. It was not one of our finer moments as a family. Suffice it to say that this turn of events meant that Mitch had to break into the house in the dark, and also borrow Alisa's car for work the next morning. So the half of Alisa's stuff that was in her car had nowhere to go except to work with Mitch. And Alisa couldn't finish moving this morning like she had planned. Then, when I got up to Logan for work, I got a call that a potential renter was coming to look at the house today. So I left work and ran to the house to clean it up a bit. In my flurry to make it look as clean and empty as possible, I decided to cram the microwave, a TV, and some random blankets, pillows and paint supplies in the back of my car. By the time I got back to work, Alisa was calling me to arrange for a way to get her car back from Mitch's work, so she could move her stuff. I thought she could just borrow my car until Mitch got home, but then I remembered that my car was full of stuff too, and there wouldn't be room for any of her stuff unless she wanted to unpack my stuff. So she wound up walking over to my work to get my car to drive to Mitch's work to pick up her car. Then Mitch drove my car home after work, so that he could get his car (which was the only car not filled with crap) to take to school.
So in the process of moving, Alisa's stuff has gone from her apartment to her car to Syracuse to our house in Logan, to Mitch's work, back to the house and finally to her new apartment. My stuff (which really never had to go anywhere) went from the house to the car to my work to Mitch's work and back to the house. Except for the blankets and pillows, which came to Syracuse with me. Along with the dog and an extra neighbor kid who is spending the night, until we all get back in the car and drive back to Logan at 7:00 tomorrow morning, to do it all again, because guess what? More house showings tomorrow!
