An Eventfully Painfully Ordinary Day

The big news of the day around here is that the cat has been absolved of guilt in the case of the missing frog. In the task of moving Duncan to his new downstairs bedroom, we were moving stuff around in the room upstairs, pulled a dresser away from the wall and found the dried up remains of the poor frog on the carpet. It was a somber moment. Will and Audrey are planning a memorial service for tomorrow.

And in other pet news, totally unrelated to the frog discovery, we got two new goldfish today. One is named Sprinkles, and the other has yet to be named, because Audrey has yet to decided if it is a boy or a girl. That is the beauty of goldfish- they are so flexible. Based on our prior experiences, nobody around here is expecting them to survive much past a week, but at 12 cents a fish, I think we will get our money's worth.

We also had parent teacher conferences for Will and Audrey-good news all around, and no complaints-, and Duncan had his first high school choir concert tonight. That turned out to be a much more religious experience than I was expecting. All 12 songs were about God. It was kind of weird, even for Cache Valley. But Duncan did great. He even sang a little bit. Maybe he can sing one of his songs at the frog funeral tomorrow.

And finally, my poor Alisa is suffering through her first heartbreak tonight. It's one of those times when I just wish I could make it all better for her, like when she was little and all she needed was a hug and a band aid....
