Just a few pictures from our adventurous and fun-filled 2009 Pioneer Day celebration. We opted out of the crowd and confusion of the Salt Lake parade, and opted in to the short, quiet, family-filled pioneer parade in Cedar Fort. The only problem with this plan was that, in true Metcalf form, SOMEBIDDY told us the parade started one hour later than it really did. We had about 30 minutes of feeling really good about ourselves for being early to the parade for once, before we got the phone call wondering where we were.
In a really small town, it's pretty easy to pull strings, so a few wrenches were thrown
into a few spokes, and the parade was delayed just long enough for us to pull into town, throw a few kids on the back of Grandpa's tractor, and haul ourselves up to the end of the parade route to wave at them the last block.

Grandpa Dan to the rescue with the hose.
After lunch, we hit the Cedar Fort rodeo, yee hah, where we alternated between getting rained on and getting sunburned.
Later on, there were fireworks in the front yard, courtesy of the town of Cedar Fort. They lasted about 3 minutes, but since it involved absolutely no driving, parking, walking or packing, it was the best fireworks show we ever saw!
