The Final Countdown

With the exception of Olivia, nobody around here is too proud to admit that we are all
pretty geeked up about the new Harry Potter movie that comes out in only 17 MORE DAYS!!!
and which we have been counting down to since last November when the release date was changed. The big debate is this: Dan has tried to get a bunch of tickets to the premiere, but it looks like he will only get two. Which means only one of us gets to go with him. I believe I have the upper hand in obtaining that lone ticket, but we shall see. The midnight showings for opening day are already sold out.

It doesn't really matter that the movies are only so-so. Now that the book series is complete, the movies are all we have left to look forward to. I can't explain why, but the Harry Potter series has sucked all of us Metcalf Jrs. in like no other. Harry is by far and away my favorite literary character ever. I feel bad for the younger kids, Duncan and Will and Audrey, who saw the movies before they read the books. They won't ever really understand what it was like to get to know those characters through the books, and then to have to wait in suspense for years for the next book to come out. They won't have their own pictures of Harry and his friends in their heads- they will always only picture the actors, and the movie sets.

I keep hoping another series will come along that will come close to Harry. Will is currently reading and very much enjoying the Fablehaven series. He is anxious for the 5th book in that series to come out. I am doing my best to follow along with him in that, and it's pretty good.

Here is our favorite movie clip so far, which we will probably watch a million times between now and July 15...I am really having to restrain myself from adding ALL of the clips, but that would just be too much....right?? Think I'll go start rereading..
