Why is Olivia having a panic attack over her friend coming to play?
Why does she turn into Miss Congeniality with any kid who walks through the door who is here to play with somebody else, or even with a kid who comes to be babysat, but if a kid comes here specifically to play with her, she becomes an emotional wreck??
Thank heavens Audrey is home today. Otherwise, we would be in the middle of the playdate from Hades.
Olivia has broken into tears at least six times since her little friend came in the door about 90 minutes ago. She is terrified that this litte girl is going to take all our dress up clothes home with her. She can't seem to find one thing she wants to share. She is complaining that her friend can't do anything right. The friend, who just turned four, has been taking it all in stride and playing with Maggie.
As it stands, we finally kind of gave up. Audrey took them both downstairs and is watching a movie with them. I have yet to hear any complaints about the toys downstairs being misused.
It's almost like it is just too much pressure to have somebody here, on her turf, and she feels obligated to entertain them. She has been thrown off her groove. Kind of like a first date.
Although now I can hear them downstairs, talking and playing on the bouncy horse. It sounds much better than it did earlier. Maybe Olivia will warm up, probably just in time to take her buddy back home.
