It's after 11 pm, and my basement is full of kids eating pizza and chips and playing games. My kitchen is full of kids microwaving s'mores. My BED is full of kids (thankfully mine) watching a movie on MY television. It's been a revolving door around here all day, and I'm wondering just how many kids one house can entertain in the course of one day. It's Friday which means chances are good that some of those kids will be spending the night. Eight of them, in addition to the six I can claim on my taxes, were fed at least one meal here today.
I'm not complaining. Sure, it's a bit loud, and expensive, but I'm glad there are kids around to keep my kids out of my hair. I am thinking though, that soon, very soon, I will get some kind of dividend off my investment. One day soon, the planets will align, and ALL of MY kids will be at the neighbors houses, eating all their food, and dominating their tv sets, and I will sit on my couch, and bask in the silence, and nibble on all the really good junk food that we hide from the little darlings....
