Bedtime Routine

I am typing tonight from our brand spanking new computer, which has a much smaller keyboard and is therefore hard to type on. Also, I have no picture files on here yet. But on the bright side, the new computer is crazy fast, at least compared to it's predecessor. We had to take the computer desk apart to make it fit, and I keep grabbing for the mouse on the shelf that no longer exists. Kind of like trying to shift an automatic transmission.

So the question of the evening is: why are kids not smart enough to go to bed the first time they are asked? If somebody told me to go get in bed; that my presence was no longer required for the evening, I would be gone as soon as their words hit my eardrum. Not my kids. They ignore me. They find 26 tasks that absolutely must be done before bed. They come up with burning questions that have to be answered. They start really interesting conversations, become ravenous, and suddenly remember they forgot to wash their hair. They delay and delay until I'm screaming like a lunatic at them to get out of my face and into their beds. So, in their heads, I guess it's better to stay up too late and get yelled at than to get a good night's rest and have a happy mommy. Not smart.
So the question for tomorrow is: why am I not smart enough to wise up to the act?
