This is a blue spruce sprout. Will planted the seed in this little cup at Webelos camp a couple of weeks ago. I had it sitting on my kitchen shelf, but had kind of given up hope of it ever sprouting, because it sat there for so long without doing anything. But we looked at it the other day, and low and behold, it had sprouted! I never had any luck with a tree actually growing before- I can't count how many times we've tried with apple seeds, acorns, and those weird seed pods that are all over the place in the summer time. It is just kind of cool to see this tiny baby tree...maybe we can even keep it alive. Wouldn't it be cool if it survived and we could plant it in our yard and watch it turn into a great big tree?
