Ahhhh. Our favorite holiday. No shopping, wrapping, snow, or stress. Just fun and easy, but meaningful too, if you are the patriotic sort, which we are. (I always cry during fireworks.)
Our independence day started last night with the Logan City fireworks show. We sat on a blanket outside Romney Stadium with about 6000 other people. It was a good show though, and since we are within walking distance of both our house and Grandma's, it is not a huge pain to get there and back. Then this morning we were up early for the pancake breakfast that the scouts put on. Will had to go help at eight, so we were there before the big crowds. The eggs were underdone, and the bacon was rubbery, but its all for a good cause, right?
After breakfast, it was time to head to the parade. I took Audrey and Olivia by myself (because that is my life right now) and we drove out to Hyrum. I was a little bit not excited to be going by myself, but it turned out to be a really good time, other than Olivia and Audrey both stepping in dog poop. We got a good spot in the shade, sat by some really nice people who helped Olivia get candy, and some other really nice people with a fluffy little Lhasa Apso that Olivia loved. She had a wonderful time waving to all the beauty queens and seeing the horses and floats. They even had a dog parade, and a bunch of really cool old cars. We almost didn't go to the parade this year, because last year it was a big disappointment, but this year was really entertaining and fun. Some lady was passing out free popsicles, so all the kids of course got very sticky. and Audrey gathered a big bag of candy and plastic toys so she was pretty happy.
Next on the holiday agenda is to swim in our backyard and cook hamburgers a little later on. Grandma and Grandpa are coming over and we have some fireworks to shoot off in the driveway tonight. Olivia looks to have designs on skinny dipping. I gotta go find a swimsuit for her!
