Birds, Bake Sales and Barbeques

Folks, we are having SUMMER!

I hope I'm not jinxing things by admitting out loud how the weather has been lovely, and we have been having some serious fun in the sun.  We spent Monday at the aviary.  Hadn't been there in years.  This is where I could throw in some jokes about how that place is for the birds, but you know what?  I'm gonna skip it.

We got to feed apples to these cute little guys.  I think they are called sun conures.  They are like mini parrots, only cuter. If they didn't live in Salt Lake, they would be living somewhere in the Amazon.

Olivia was not a fan of feeding the birds.  I had to cajole her into the enclosure with us, assuring her that I would gladly sacrifice my life for hers if anything were to go amiss.  Even then, she would have nothing to with having a bird sit on her arm.  She much preferred this adorable little bird fountain that we found.  She would have played in it all day if she had been given her way.

Later that evening, we went to the world's best bake sale.  Our neighbors organized a fund raiser for a little guy in our ward that needs some surgery, and they raised over $10,000 in under 2 hours!  After gorging ourselves on bundt cake, cupcakes, cotton candy and chocolate covered marshmallows, we decided we should have a bake sale for our vacation fund:)

Then yesterday  the girls thoughtfully redecorated my living room in Modern Stuffed Animal.  My Logan living room used to look like this quite a lot, but since we moved to Syracuse, it doesn't happen all that often anymore.  I miss it. This looks like home to me.

And then  we invited ourselves to a barbeque at Grandma Sally's.

We brought the hamburger and the smores, and they provided the coals and the labor.

Mr. Baby Squirrel provided the entertainment.  We fed him graham crackers and then he freaked out and started yelling at us and running all over the trees.  Sugar rush maybe?

We sat out on the deck and the girls  played on the grass until it got dark and Grandma and Grandpa started yawning.  Here's to many many more long summer evenings like this one!
