Whew. That was a rough morning, getting everybody out the door bright and early for the first time in 2 weeks.  Due to today being a late start day for Duncan, we all got to "sleep in" til seven.  Only  since none of have seen seven a.m. for many many days, it did not feel at all like sleeping in.  So we really slept in til more like 7:30, which still felt way too early to be dealing in reality.  And then there was a half hour of groggy pandemonium and scrambled eggs and toast and amazingly after that, Dan and the boys got out the door by eight, which was almost on time, and the girls WERE on time and everybody was showered and had clean clothes and nobody forgot their lunch. But it's a good thing it's Tuesday because it's going to be a long week, and we can't even fall back on the comfort and convenience of fast food this week because SOMEBODY had the brilliant idea that our 2012 resolution should be to not eat any fast food for a whole year.  And we are nothing if not committed.  Only we already had to break our resolution yesterday because I promised the girls on New Years Eve that we could have Subway one last time before our resolution went into effect.  Then we forgot about it until about 11 pm that night, and all the Subways were locked up tight and not serving sandwiches.  So we went yesterday and pretending like it was New Years Eve. But other than that NOW we are committed to a fast food free year.

Poor old Mitch had to start classes  early yesterday.    I didn't even know he was gone til I had cooked a big old breakfast for everybody  to celebrate our last morning of vacation, and there was left over bacon.   If Mitch is around there is no left over bacon, so I started wondering where in the heck he would be at that time in the morning.  Then I remember he had to go to school.  But he is off today, so there is the payback.

Oh, and there will be a dearth of pictures around here for a while.  The first few moments of 2012 were very eventful for us.  We managed to bang up a toe, break our camera and crack a tooth, all in the first hour of the New Year.  And it was all because of our back fence neighbors who set off the most amazing fireworks display right at midnight, and right over our house.  It would have been fun to have some pictures of the fireworks going off directly over our roof, but Dan fell off the porch trying to hurry with the camera before the fireworks were gone. His big toe will be out of commission for a while, and the camera is on permanent disability.   And it's January, the month we have no money and two birthdays. So a new camera will have to wait.  What would we ever do if we didn't have cell phone cameras?
