Picture a New Year

This post was supposed to be called something cute and catchy about picturing Christmas, and it was going to be full of the six pictures we took on Christmas this year.  But I can't find the dad-blamed cord that goes to my camera, so I can't download any pictures.  Sometimes I hate my life.

Thought about doing some kind of year in review list, but that seems redundant, since there is an archive just to the right of here.  Plus I don't really remember much about this year.  2011 was a jaguar. It's an out of focus blur of things that went by too fast to really examine too closely.  And it's good that it went fast because if it slowed down for very long it might have eaten us.  And the things  that I do remember from 2011  I don't want to think about right now.

Skydiving.  That's a good memory from 2011.  I could review skydiving.

Yeah, that was a good day.

Or we could make some resolutions  for 2012.  I personally am buying into the Mayan theory, and planning to live accordingly this next year,  like I was dying.  I already got the skydiving thing covered.  Might ride a bull named Fu Manchu this year.  Or do some Rocky Mountain climbing.   We have already  decided as a family to eat less asparagus in 2012.  And to spend more time in our pajamas.

I'm going to paint in 2012 too.  Not portraits, just walls..  Audrey's room, the family room and kitchen are all in my line of sight for the next few months.  And of course we  have a  basement to finish.
It still looks pretty much the same as it did in October. Obviously our Christmas dream was not realized this year.  This  little project seems to have been pushed into the background of our consciousness.  It's too much for me to take on alone. A bedroom I can handle.  A huge family room, not so much.   And the fence.  I didn't get a fence this year, and all joking aside, If I don't get a fence this year,  I really will lose my mind.   Even if the world does end in December, I  want a fence before then.

So, between less asparagus, all that painting and fence building and more jammie time, we are going to be pretty darn busy in 2012. Come to think of it, I have painted in my pajamas before, and it actually makes the thought of painting a lot more appealing.  Not sure about the fence building in pajamas though.  That might be dangerous.

Moving on to predictions for 2012--Olivia has predicted that snowmen will come to life, throw their hats in the air, and take over the world.   We are going to need some snow in order for that to happen. Audrey is predicting that people will find out that Subway sandwiches are actually bad for you.  The boys aren't around for me to ask their predictions right now, so we will have to catch them later.  As for me, I'm predicting a year of change in this family.   Something big is going to be different by this time next year, but just like the astrologer in the daily paper, I'm a little short on details right now.

Watch out for drunks tonight.
