Working from Home

We are home today, making another valiant attempt at cleaning up this house. It's a losing battle, especially in the summertime, with kids home all day, cooking pizzas and eating popsicles and having playdates.  Nonetheless, it is a battle we  I must continue to wage, especially on days like today, when the cleaning and organizing bug has bitten me.  So onward and upward we go, until tomorrow, when everything we get done today will be a tattered mess at our feet once again.

The laundry room.  I am starting there.  It's 2:14. A leetle late to begin a giant clean up project, but  lets just see....

3:28.  The laundry room is clean, except for the  floor which people keep piling clothes on.  It looks 94% bigger, thanks to all the clutter and garbage being vamoosed.  Only got interrupted a few times, once to cut a pizza and pour some milk, once to put a pork roast in the crock pot, once to find out that my neighbor FINALLY had her baby yesterday, and once to tell Olivia that if her friend wants to get her face painted, Olivia needs to let her, and stop whining.  Olivia fancies herself the director of all activities, social and otherwise, for everyone that enters through the front door of our house.  It can make for some very long playdates.  Now, on to  take care of all the debris I loaded out of the laundry room and into the kitchen....

5:20. Kitchen in progress. Finally got around to cleaning that burned on goo out of the drawer below the oven.  It's only been there since we moved in.   Took a break to bake cupcakes  with the four girls that are here. Olivia and  her friend are now having a great time dumping out leftover sprinkles onto a plate and then grinding in cupcake crumbs and eating it.  Oh well. Whatever keeps them busy....Audrey and her friend ate 3 cupcakes each and retired back to her bedroom, door closed.

6:26. I am about to tackle the pantry. Been cleaning out cupboards for the past hour.  Also dealt with the traditional meltdown from Olivia when it was time for friends to leave.  Duncan and Will are doing a good job of procrastinating mowing the lawn. Dinner also has to happen at some point this evening.

8:01. Dinner over. Boys at scouts. Mitch is now procrastinating the lawn. I need to change my playlist.  We are sick of ABBA.

9:26. Pooped. We'll give it another go tomorrow.
