Summer Firsts

Yesterday was hot, like real summer. As in hot enough to play in the water.  Which made it the perfect day to meet up with cousins and go to the Children's Museum and to the FOUNTAIN, which makes that particular item the first to be crossed off the old bucket list!  I'm pretty sure that fountain will get another couple of visits from us this summer.  Even Olivia, who was traumatized with a face full of water last year, when she picked the wrong moment to closely inspect one of the little holes in the concrete, and was blasted with a face full of water.  She had to think about it this year before she got out there, but once Aunt Amy offered to loan her some sunglasses, and after a few reassurances that she was bigger and smarter this year, and had learned her lesson,  she was up and running through the spray with all the rest of them

Today is not so hot.  It's windy and cloudy again.  But that's okay, because there is a lot of stuff going on around here to keep our minds off the weather, like....

-Mitch getting a new job!  He got the call today, and was he ever flying high when he walked out of here to go put in his two week notice at Walmart.  He starts training tomorrow- it's at a gym so he gets a free membership, and they said they would work around his school schedule.  Here's hoping it works out good for him.  It's full time, so he is gonna be a busy boy.

-Alisa getting her one way ticket to Paris....she leaves September 6.  I think I am in denial about it all.  We are all just pretending like we aren't completely stressed out over the whole thing.

-Duncan leaving for youth conference today.  They are going to Idaho woo hoo!  He'll be home Saturday afternoon, so it's a quick trip.

-Audrey having her first "real" paid babysitting job yesterday.  She is going to babysit every Wednesday morning for one of our neighbors.  She is loving the idea of making some money.  There are LOTS of little kids in our neighborhood, so she has the potential to make some real cash. We'll see how long it takes her to get burned out.

-Will being the one lucky kid in our family to go to the screening of The Green Lantern, even though he had to go in his wet clothes, because his mother is not forward-thinking enough to bring some clothes for him to change into, even though she KNEW they were going straight to the movie from downtown. Oh well, he survived.

-Olivia and her friends enjoying their first popsicles of the season today.  Me yelling at them to pick  up their stupid sticks and wrappers.  Ahh, now it really feels like summer is finally here.
