Georgia On Her Mind

This is Georgia O'Keeffe, famous artist.

And this is Audrey, at the 5th Grade Night at the Museum, portraying Georgia O'Keeffe, famous artist:

I know! Pretty good resemblance,  huh?  All created with common household items found around our house.  Amazing.

Each 5th grader picked a famous American from history, researched them, wrote a report, then came up with a short speech to present about them.  It was supposed to be like a wax museum, where the kids would freeze until somebody comes up to hear them, then they come to life, give their speech, and then freeze again.  We heard from everybody from George Washington to Ronald and Nancy Reagan, from Ben Franklin to Thomas Edison, and from Walt Disney to Oprah.   It was fun!

Here is Audrey's speech about Georgia O'Keeffe:

Hello. I am Georgia O'Keeffe. I am a famous American artist who was born on November 15, 1887. When I was 10, I was determined to become an artist, and I loved flowers, so I decided to paint pictures of flowers up close. Once, later in my life, I even sold one of my paintings for one million dollars! I married a famous photographer named Alfred Stielitz, who loved my paintings. I was presented the National Medal of Arts by the 40th president, Ronald Reagan. I died on March 6, 1986, at the age of 98....good day.

Only five more days of school left.....
