Gut Reaction

Driving to Logan with Olivia is always an adventure. Tonight as we started up Sardine canyon, she was busy counting by 10's. Tomorrow is the 100th day of school, and in kindergarten circles, this is a big deal. She had to come up with a "100 day project", -something that shows how many 100 is. We wound up making a necklace with 100 beads on it, 10 beads each in 10 different colors. She strung every last bead herself too, and was very proud. Anyhow, because of 100 day, she has been very involved in lots of counting lately. So she counted by 10's for a while. Then she counted by 1's all the way up to 86. Then she decided 86 should be the end of all numbers, and wouldn't count any farther. Then she got bored, and started looking around for something else to do. She didn't have to look too far.

Half way up Sardine, she tells me, "Ew, Mom, I think I just found a belly button booger!"

Ahh, the simple joys of parenthood: seeing the world through fresh new eyes.
