Friday the 13th Part 43

I was 13 when the Friday the 13th movies started coming out. Guess where I watched the first one? In Brother Terry's living room, who was the first counselor in the bishopric at the time. He had a brand new, state of the art Laserdisc, and used to invite all the kids over to watch scary movies. He also killed my neighbor's cat by throwing a wrench at it. And he called the cops on my brother a few times for disturbing the peace with his garage band, which was really a basement band since we didn't have a garage for them to practice in. Good old Brother Terry.

So today was Friday the 13th, 2010 version, and Jason Voorhees did not make an appearance, but it was a weird day nonetheless. Maybe not as weird as watching horror movies at your spiritual leader's house, but still weird.

Will and I went over to his new jr. high school today to get oriented. We were also accosted and spiritized by a group of overly enthusiastic 13 year old cheerleaders. Then Will and I got to be the volunteers for a climbing demonstration given by one of the principals. It had a point, which I don't really remember, but I did get to billet Will, which before today, I would not have even known what that meant. In fact, when the principal told me what I was going to do, I thought he said I was going to "fillet" Will, which would have been a very different activity than what we actually wound up doing. Anyway, nothing like making a fool of yourself in front of 50 7th graders.

Being at the orientation made me 5 hours late for work. In most jobs that would be a really bad thing. It turned out to be a really bad thing for me too, but more so for my poor boss, who got slammed with sick people while I was gone. I promised him cookies though, and he forgave me.

Then my friend Valerie showed up at my work this afternoon. I have not seen her in forever. She was in Logan for a wedding and had some time to kill, so she hung out for a while and we got a few chances to talk and catch up in between bursts of being crazy busy with work again. It was fun, but would have been more fun if those darn sick people would have stopped bugging us. But I promised to harass her until we get a chance to get together for a proper catching up session. It was great to see her.

On the way home, a flying rock hit my windshield and cracked it up real good. Then I suddenly realized that that odd sensation I had been having off and on all day had flared up into a real good UTI. So I stopped off at an Insta-Care, then made another stop at a pharmacy, on my way home from working at an Insta-Care/pharmacy all day long. Great planning there.

So yeah, a weird day, to say the least. Thank you Friday the 13th.
