The party is so over. Back to the old grind tomorrow, of alarm clocks, making lunches and homework. It is a grind, but it is one we are happy to do, when you consider some of the alternatives. We have spent more time together as a family in the past two weeks than we have in the past six months. Considering that we survived all that togetherness, and the holidays, and still like each other, I guess we have nothing to complain about. I am afraid the kids got very used to having Dad around all the time, and will miss him terribly this next week, as will I.
And that is why we spent such a chunk of time this past week on the great house hunt. We have not found the perfect house, but we do have a few really good options we are weighing. We did have a few blissful hours, where we really did think we HAD found the perfect house, and at the perfect price, no less. Then we found out that this house is practically in the direct path of the proposed Legacy Highway, which is not in the imminent future, but which does stand a very good chance of being built sometime in the next 10-20 years. This doesn't completely eliminate the house from our list, but it does complicate the decision just a tiny bit.
So, on top of being back to the regular old grind tomorrow, we also have the big house decision hanging over our heads. We also have to attempt once again to track down that cotton pickin insurance adjuster and get our Suburban fiasco settled once and for all. Then there are the little issues to work out, like checking into schools for the kids in our possible new neighborhoods, finding our why our Nissan is barely running, and getting Christmas packed away.
Oh, and did I mention we have TWO birthdays coming up in the next 10 days? This could be a very expensive month.
