One Down

The first day of school.

It came. They went. And just like that, it's history.

One day down, 179 to go.

Neither of them wanted me to escort them to their classes this morning. It was all I could do to get them to pose for one quick picture by the car before they dashed off into the school building. I was still in the middle of asking if they wanted me to walk them to class, and they were already gone, with Audrey calling back to me over her shoulder, "Mom, we're not babies!"

And the after-school report?

Will said 6th grade was much better than he thought it would be. He loves having a locker, and he can even open it now, after a few tries. He likes having 7 different classes, and doesn't have a mean teacher in the bunch.

Audrey was less impressed, but did say that at least it went fast. She and her best friend got put in different classes for the second year in a row, but she has two other good friends in her class, and both 4th grade classes have lunch and recess together, so no big deal there. Audrey has the same teacher that Duncan had in 4th grade, and I am pretty sure that she and Audrey will get along swimmingly.

And tomorrow?
Tomorrow they are going to Lagoon. We decided to break into this whole school routine thing slowly. Plus it's half price at Lagoon right now. Can't miss that!
