We are getting slightly burned out on home improvement projects around here. Murphy has been our faithful friend through almost every project, with most of them costing more and being more labor-intensive than we had thought.
Here is what we have done so far:
-replaced and painted base boards and trim in living room (looks awesome)
-painted outside trim (eh, looks better than it did)
-cleaned out laundry and storage rooms (this was one of the nastiest jobs. Ask Dan if you want details. I refuse to discuss it)
-painted family room ( WAAAY awesome)
-painted trim in hallway (it was unbelievably beat up)
-replaced front screen door (the wind blew off the old one)
-repaired and painted (yes, painted) bathroom shower (hey, at least it's shiny and white)
-hung new cabinet in bathroom (not successful at covering up as much of the old damaged wall as we had hoped)
-repaired wall in bathroom (stupid leaky toilet upstairs)
-cleaned, re-caulked and painted windows ( I hate old windows)
-hung new blinds (no response)
-moved Alisa out, (yes, that counts as a home improvement project. Not that we are improved by having her gone, just that it needed to happen before the move)
Today Dan fixed our previously un-leaky toilet downstairs. It has never had a problem until sometime last night. We woke up this morning to a puddle on the bathroom floor. So he took out the toilet and replaced the wax seal and now he thinks he is THE MAN. I had to remind him Keanu is still, and always THE MAN. (I was JOKING.)
Left to do:
-replace two downstairs windows
-clean carpets
-scrub the walls we aren't painting
-paint Alisa's old room
-do something about downstairs bathroom floor
-repair some spots in the kitchen and boys bedroom walls
-find more junk to pack away and clean like crazy
The to-do list could go on and on, but I think we are close to calling it good enough.
Now if only all that hadn't taken four months longer than we thought it would.
