Hooky Again

The younger kids and me spent another day playing hooky from school last week. We spent the day in downtown SLC, and hit the church history museum, temple square, and the Beehive House. The kids were most impressed with the death masks of Joseph and Hyrum Smith, John Taylor's watch, and the free lemon drops at the end of the Beehive House tour. Then we went up to the observation deck on the top of the church office building and took in the views of Salt Lake. Olivia charmed all the missionaries and volunteers we met by telling them that she was going to wear a beautiful dress and be a princess when she got married in the castle (meaning the temple). We got a bite to eat in the Lion House, and then that night, Dan had passes to the screening of Bolt, so we met up with him and took in a free movie. It was a great day, and made me even more determined to take more of these hooky days when the opportunity comes up. Although it doesn't usually just "come up". We usually have to reach out and grab it, and hang on tight while we crunch time, rearrange schedules and prioritize things to make it happen. It's great when it does though....

Supping at the Lion House

Hey, the capitol building- that's where we went last time!

They recognized this spot from our wedding pictures...

I couldn't resist these two shots-the first time we braided Liv's hair...cute,eh?
