Yep, it snowed. We had a white out for about 30 minutes on Saturday, during which Olivia got out the old reindeer horns and started talking about Santa. It's been trying to snow all day today, and right now, it's another blizzard. So far nothing has stayed on the ground, as evidenced by the green leaves you can see on the trees in the picture. But the kids are all fired up about it.
What is it about a little bit of snow that makes kids so crazy? They are on a snow-high: similar to a sugar rush. I guess the first snow is the first sure sign for a kid that Christmas can't be that far off. The day around which the entire kid year revolves, to borrow a favorite line from one of our all time favorites, A Christmas Story. It was THE favorite for many many years, but I believe it has been surpassed by Elf. Call me scrooge, but the Christmas movie I hate above all others is the Polar Express. It doesn't even get a color title. There is the one cool Josh Groban song, but the movie is stupid. So is the book.
It is waaay too early in the year to be thinking about Christmas movies. We haven't even figured out Halloween costumes yet. Except for Olivia, who is going to be Sleeping Beauty. If you know Olivia, you know there is a lot of irony in that costume choice!
