So who gets to meet the prophet? My best friend of nearly 30 years, that's who! Turns out Emilie's grandparents knew President Monson from way back and have occasionally kept in touch through the years. Em's grandma is now in a care center, in the process of passing from this life, and somehow, Pres. Monson heard about it and came to visit her while Emilie and her family were there. How cool is that?!!
Anybody who know Emmy knows that she can be, well, just a bit of a smart aleck. But I have never heard her sound the way she did when she was telling me about meeting him. She was really amazed and awed by the experience. He gave her Grandma a blessing and said some really pertinent, personal things, and Emilie said he was just so nice and unassuming. And of course, she told him a joke (a clean one thank heavens!), which he laughed at. I am so happy for her. Her grandma has not been in good health for a long time, and so to have this as one of the final memories of her is pretty cool. In fact, most everything about Emmy is pretty cool. She can always make me laugh, and she is always there, ready to listen to me whine.
